Steel Industry

The Steel industry accounts for about 9% of global Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions. It is widely accepted that Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steelmaking is a cleaner path to Green Steel. Investments in EAF steel mills are increasing rapidly.

The US is the world's largest pig iron importer. In 2019 it imported $1.5 Billion USD.

EAF uses steel scrap and pig iron as its main raw material. Pig iron is crucial as it lowers impurities in steel scrap and increases EAF production.
